Hi, I'm Gloria Murasa. I'm the founder of Mama’s Circle, a certified Hoop Love Coach, and mindful mama of one free spirited toddler. In a life before motherhood, I studied Psychology & Sociology and spent the majority of my career helping people with disabilities and mental health problems living life on their own terms.

After a difficult pregnancy and the birth of my daughter I personally suffered from postnatal depression & anxiety. Life consisted of a feeling of constant panic and worry, low mood, a total loss of identity and confidence, and feeling as lonely as never before. Discovering hoop dance and combining it with a regular mindfulness practice completely changed my life and allowed me to finally enjoy motherhood. It gave me confidence, got me back into a regular fitness routine and allowed me to shift my mindset from anxious and depressed to enjoying the here and now and feeling hopeful for the future again. Do I still have bad days? Absolutely. The difference is that I now have a tool in my self-care toolbox that without fail helps me out of the funk and back into the beauty of the present moment. That tool is mindful hula hooping.

I am passionate about sharing the hoop love and the benefits of mindfulness mediation with other mama’s who feel like they have lost their mojo and want to feel happier, calmer and healthier; while injecting their life with a fun fitness routine that can be completed at home in only minutes a day.

I have never hooped before, is this course suitable for me?
Absolutely! This course is designed to take Mamas from absolute beginner hooper to waist hooping with ease and confidence. Absolutely no experience is needed, hoop dancing is for everyone, regardless of body shape and fitness level! Should you get stuck along the way you can ask for support within the Mama's Circle facebook community!
What kind of hula hoop will I need?
Good question! And yes, there absolutely are the right and wrong kind of hoops. We strongly advise against using weighted, bulky "fitness hoops" as they actually slow you down and are NOT more effective for your workout. The weight of them is also unsafe and hold potential for serious injury, especially during the vulnerable post-partum period. I live in a small apartment, will I be able to hoop inside?
Totally. My family of 3 (+1 dog) live on 70sqm and I learned allll of my hooping in our small living room. As a genreal rule, you will need around 4sqm (or 44 sq ft), to comfortably hoop on-body. For off-body tricks and moves you will need a little more space. We recommend finding a clear area of about 7.5-14 sqm (or 81 -144 sq ft). Hooping is also a great excuse to get out of the house when done in the backyard, local park, church & community halls etc.
